What's better than the Coen Brothers film, "O, Brother, Where Art Thou?" than an opening set for the film performed by the Red Hot Kitten Stompers? World peace? A shorter version of the Odyssey? Probably both, and fortunately, we have the latter. That's right, O Brother Where Art Thou is based on the Odyssey and runs about four hours shorter than the Christopher Nolan epic (or so?). The film starts at 7:30pm. Music begins about 45 min prior to that. Don't be a man of constant sorrow - get yourself to the Garland Theater, September 26.

Zonky Jazz Band plays Big Barn Brewing's outdoor concert on the afternoon of August 31. Bring a lawn chair, listen to music, enjoy some suds, and maybe even go pick some locally grown fruit. 2-5pm. No cover.

It's Hot Jazz Sunday Night! The monthly jazz night continues in 2026 at Hamilton Studio Listening Room with the Red Hot Kitten Stompers!

Join us for hot jazz, New Orleans style! The REAL Jazz Room in Spokane is Hamilton Studio. It's the kind of jazz you'd experience on the corner of St Peter and Royal in the French Quarter. You know it when you hear it.

Doors open at 5:15pm. Dance lesson at 5:30pm. Concert and dance from 6-8pm.

This is an all-ages event, but for those of legal age with ID, a bar with beer and wine is available. Hamilton Studio also has Charcuterie Boxes on offer at every Hot Jazz Sunday Night.

Lilac City Stomp: A full day of dance, live jazz, and community at Spokane's Historic Davenport Hotel

10am to 1pm - Three sessions of FREE dance lessons led by guest instructor, Undre Reed, with local instructors from Woodside Swing

2pm to 3:30pm - A free matinee performance of the Zonky Jazz Band, led by visiting bandleaders Lauryn Gould and Jonathan Doyle, with open dancing, dance performances, and more.

4:30pm to 6:30pm - A Free drop-in dance session with DJ'ed music where guests can dance, ask questions of our dance instructors, and practice what they've learned.

7pm to 10pm - TICKETED: Cap off a full day of swing dance with Lilac City Stomp's ticketed evening showcase in the historic Marie Antoinette Ballroom at the Davenport Hotel, a room built in the very era these dances were born.

Zonky Jazz Band takes the stage under the direction of visiting bandleaders Jonathan Doyle and Lauryn Gould, joined by local musicians and dancers for a night of live jazz, social dancing, and performance. Whether you spent the day in the free workshops or you're just arriving for the show, this is where Lilac City Stomp comes together.

Evening showcase tickets are $40 for early bird tickets, $50 after October 1, and $60 on the day of the event.
